The Called in Righteousness

Isaiah 42:6-9

6I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 8I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. 9Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

We are all called by God; we are called by the Lord in righteousness. He will hold our hand, and will keep us until He completes what He purposed in His heart for us as it says in Genesis 28:15“15And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

A covenant for the people means we are the Lord’s promise for the people we are called to serve. In other words, God has purposed to use us as His promise to establish a covenant with the people we are called for. So, we have the utmost calling to live the life of Jesus among the people. We should be the living testimonies of Christ to the ones we are called; we should show His grace and mercy; we should not judge them; we should care for them as Christ cares for them; we in turn bring them to the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus, His crucifixion and resurrection. Ultimately, we will live the victorious life of the resurrected Jesus among them and lead them by God’s hand to the same victorious life!

We are a light for the Gentiles. Gentiles here mean the people that are yet to come to the Savior. As it says in Matthew 5:14-16, “ 14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” We are where God led us, in order to open the blind eyes to the TRUTH and that truth is Jesus Christ! Also, we are to bring out the prisoners from the prison. This prison is designed by the wicked prince of the world (Satan) to keep them captive until released by the Blood of the Lamb. And, we are to bring them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. We should bring them out of darkness to light . In John 12:46, Jesus says “46I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” He accomplishes all that He wants of us in order to glorify Himself as it says in Isaiah 42:8.

Behold, the former things have already taken place and He will declare new things. Before they actually take place He will announce them to us just as He had announced to Abraham in Genesis 28:15 (above). And, until He finishes what He announced, He will not leave you!

Let us just take courage and wait on the Lord for wisdom, strength and guidance in our journey with Him!
