Spirit of Power, Love and a Sound Mind

II Timothy 1:6-7

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

It is easy to be caught up in our feelings of fear, anxiety, disappointment and hopelessness rather than believing and trusting the Lord God. Do not allow the Satan to trap you in such feelings. In James 4:7 we see that “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” When we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil we will be more than conquerors in Christ. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind!

Spirit of power is the same spirit with which Christ defeated the death; the Spirit of love is the same love that is shown for the mankind on the Cross of Calvary; the Spirit of a sound mind is the same sound mind with which Christ overcame the temptations on this earth. Let us take hold of these wonderful gifts so freely bestowed on us by God through His Son Jesus Christ, the Word of God and the Spirit of God. Let us cast all our anxieties on the Lord as it says in Philippians 4:6-7 and our hearts will be filled with the peace of God. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
